Three-time Australian Supercars champion and 2019 winner of Bathurst 1000, Scott McLaughlin is looking to continue to build as a team with Team Penske. McLaughlin was named the 2021 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year and the 2021 NTT INDYCAR SERIES Rookie of the Year before earning his first three NTT INDYCAR SERIES victories in a breakthrough 2022 season. McLaughlin is very close with his Team Penske family, playing a weekly round of golf with Team Penske NASCAR driver Ryan Blaney and hosting the fan-favorite video series “Bus Bros” with fellow Team Penske NTT INDYCAR SERIES driver Josef Newgarden. Away from the track, McLaughlin and his wife, Karly, spend time with their cavoodle, Chase.

Team Penske

Team Penske has been racing in the United States since 1966, scoring victories in every series in which it has competed. Team Penske is the most successful INDYCAR SERIES racing team in history with 231 race wins, 16 INDYCAR SERIES national championships and 294 pole positions.

Roger Penske was one of America’s most successful young road racers before he retired from driving in 1965 to focus on his business interests. His team fielded Corvettes in the 1966 endurance races at Daytona and Sebring before joining forces with driver Mark Donohue to race in the U.S. Road Racing Championship and Can-Am sports car series. Team Penske found success early with Donohue, winning consecutive USRRC championships and three SCCA Trans-Am championships.

Penske and Donohue moved into INDYCAR SERIES racing by competing in three USAC-sanctioned road races in 1968. In 1969, the team entered the Indianapolis 500 for the first time and Donohue finished seventh, earning Rookie of the Year honors. Three years later, Donohue earned the first of what has become 18 Indy 500 wins for Penske – more than any other team – including four by Rick Mears and three from Helio Castroneves.

The team enters 2023 with a three-car lineup featuring two-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Josef Newgarden (2017 and 2019), two-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion (2014 and 2022) and 2018 Indianapolis 500 winner Will Power and 2021 NTT INDYCAR SERIES and Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year Scott McLaughlin.

Team Penske also competes in the NASCAR Cup Series and won both the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and NASCAR Cup Series championships in 2022. The organization is also excited about the debut of its newest racing program – Porsche Penske Motorsport (PPM) – which will feature two full-season sports car entries racing in both the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship as well as the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) this season.
